Community Quilt & Grief Workshop 10/21

  • 216 Whitson Avenue Swannanoa, NC, 28778 United States (map)

Healing Through the Stitched Thread: A Swannanoa Community Grief Threads Project

A five-week series on Tuesdays from 5-7pm October 7, 14, 21, 28 and November 4th.

Come to co-create a community quilt through stories and stitching. Learn to integrate learned skills into personal pieces of art. Food and materials provided, no experience needed.

Using stitching as a creative medium to process what was lost and slowly being regained. We invite you to gather together post Helene anniversary. This time will bring storytelling and creative practice together to make a community quilt and begin individual stitching projects. Learn basic embroidery stitching techniques and journal writing practices for processing your experience and envisioning healing. All levels of experience are welcome.

Facilitated by:
Clare, a local story weaver, creative grief practitioner, and grief educator with training in trauma-informed and aware practices.
Melanie, a fiber artist and educator whose work explores how textiles create ritual and living a meaningful life.

Hosted by the Swannanoa Resilience Hub, Supported by Asheville Creative Arts.
